About the Role
Senex Recruitment Ltd is recruiting for an experienced Senior Maintenance Engineer to join a successful manufacturing business near Sittingbourne, Kent. This opportunity combines hands-on engineering responsibility with team leadership, overseeing a small maintenance team comprising two Maintenance Engineers and an Apprentice. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will help maximise machine availability, coordinate maintenance activities and ensure engineering standards remain consistently high. This position offers a stable Monday to Friday daytime working pattern.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of Maintenance Engineers and an Apprentice, providing technical guidance, mentoring and day-to-day support
- Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance activities across manufacturing equipment
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults using a structured and methodical approach
- Coordinate maintenance activities through the company's maintenance management system
- Develop and improve preventative maintenance programmes to maximise equipment availability
- Support engineering improvement projects and capital expenditure activities
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, productivity and downtime reduction
- Ensure all maintenance work is carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures, maintaining Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality compliance
- Work closely with Production and Maintenance teams to support operational performance
Skills and Experience Required
- Apprentice-trained or professionally qualified engineer or technician
- Strong mechanical and electrical engineering experience, including 18th Edition
- Experience maintaining equipment within a manufacturing or production environment
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving capability
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills, with experience using maintenance management systems
- Self-motivated approach with a focus on continuous improvement
- Ability to lead, motivate and support others
- Desirable: experience within a plastics, packaging or high-volume manufacturing environment
Salary and Benefits
- £44,000 - £47,000 salary depending on experience
- Monday to Friday day shifts
