About the role
An exciting opportunity to join the Corporate Case Services team at Canterbury City Council. Do you enjoy organising high-profile events, building positive relationships, and working in a role where no two days are the same? We are looking for a Corporate Case Services Officer (Civic) to support the delivery of the Council's civic and ceremonial functions, ensuring that the Lord Mayor and Sheriff are represented professionally at a wide range of events and engagements. Supporting the Civic team, this is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in supporting civic life across the district.
This role supports the smooth delivery of civic engagements, ceremonial events and official functions involving the Lord Mayor and Sheriff, ensuring the highest standards of professionalism and civic protocol are maintained.
Duties may include
- Coordinate attendance arrangements for the civic team at events, liaising with organisers and ensuring all civic protocols are followed
- Brief the Lord Mayor, Sheriff and their escorts on event requirements, background information and speech arrangements
- Support the planning and delivery of civic receptions, events and functions hosted by the Lord Mayor and Sheriff
- Organise the Council's participation in ceremonial events, including civic and cathedral services
- Attend and contribute to weekly civic diary meetings, held face to face on a Monday at Tower House in Canterbury
The ideal candidate
- Experience of coordinating activities, events, meetings or engagements involving multiple stakeholders
- Excellent networking and relationship-building skills
- Strong organisational and administrative abilities
- Effective communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with a range of internal and external contacts
