I know it can often seem hard to have enough time. So, how are you going to find time to volunteer?
Running my own business means that I am usually busy with something, but I am a trustee for a local charity, Whitstable Maritime.
I have lived in the town for 30 years, and it is great to be involved with the history and the future of Whitstable.
As a Trustee of Whitstable Maritime, I am delighted to help find new volunteers. Depending on your skills, experience, and availability, there are many different roles available.
Whitstable Maritime focusses on four related objectives:
- Celebrating Whitstable's maritime heritage
- Supporting the town's coastal economic development
- Addressing marine environment issues
- Encouraging well-being
Part of this work includes renovating a traditional oyster yawl called the GameCock, which will be back on the water in 2025.
WM is looking for volunteers with experience in fundraising, grant applications, marketing, and social media. Or, those who have an interest in sailing and want to be involved with one of the most exciting boats on the north Kent coast.
What do I get from volunteering? I have learnt much more about the town where I live. I feel that I am doing my bit to make it a better place, and I have met some wonderful people.
Putting in some time is certainly paying dividends.
