We are looking for a dedicated Fleet Compliance Officer to join our Cleansing and Fleet Services team, providing vital operational support to the Transport Manager and ensuring Thanet District Council remains fully compliant with its legal obligations and Operator Licensing.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of transport legislation and the Highway Code, with the skills to deliver high-quality driver inductions, assessments, and job-specific training to our frontline workforce.

Main Duties

Deliver new employee driver inductions and relevant job-specific training

Conduct practical and theory driving assessments for new and existing staff

Implement a rolling programme for annual employee driving assessments

Deliver driver training, toolbox talks, and vehicle-based assessments

Assist the Transport Manager with routine gate checks at various Council operating locations

Support the Transport Manager in debriefing drivers and managing infringements

Manage day-to-day administrative tasks relating to fleet compliance and operations

Main Tasks

Good understanding of Operator Licensing, Drivers Hours, and Roadworthiness legislation

Recognised Driving Assessor qualification and a minimum Category C driving entitlement

Excellent communication skills, with experience speaking to large groups and delivering training

Experience managing drivers and conducting assessments within a large workforce
