Materials Buyer

Our client, near Dartford, is seeking an experienced Materials Buyer for a permanent, full-time position sourcing and negotiating with new and lapsed suppliers for the procurement of electronic components.

Key details

• Location: Crayford (near Dartford)
• Salary: £32,000 to £37,000 pa
• Hours: 8am to 4pm or 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday
• Contract: Permanent, full-time

Requirements

• Electronic component knowledge
• Good standard of secondary education, preferably to A Level (CIPS membership an advantage)
• Thorough understanding of computerised manufacturing systems (ERP, MPS)
• Modern supply methods including JIT and KANBAN
• At least 6 months' experience in a similar role (manufacturing experience an advantage e.g. electronics)
• Ability to communicate at all levels; strong negotiation skills
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Computer literate including Word, Excel, PDF Writer
• Cost reduction techniques
• Component recognition skills
• Accurate, attention-to-detail driven approach; hands-on approach to all tasks
