Memorial Stability Tester

About the Role

Thanet District Council is seeking a Memorial Stability Tester to join its Bereavement Services team at Thanet Crematorium in Margate. This role ensures the safety and dignity of local cemeteries and churchyards through meticulous inspections and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine stability testing on memorials across closed churchyards and burial grounds in line with safety programmes
• Maintain grounds by clearing floral tributes, cleaning benches, and tending to auger lawns
• Support funeral services by collaborating with directors, ministers, and the public to ensure respectful and smooth operations
• Travel between sites using a company vehicle, with flexibility to work outside standard hours when required

What We're Looking For

• Compassionate communication skills to interact professionally with bereaved families
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team
• Exceptional attention to detail for accurate testing records
• Full, clean manual UK driving licence for site travel
• Desirable: experience in bereavement services, Memorial Stability Testing Certificate, ICCM Customer Services qualification, or knowledge of burial laws and cremation software
