Production Manager

Our manufacturing client based in Rochester, Kent is seeking an experienced Production Manager with a passion for Lean principles and continuous improvement.

Location: Rochester, Kent

Position Type: Full-time, Permanent

Reporting to: Managing Director

Hours: Core factory hours, 35 hours pw

Benefits include: 28 days leave + BH, BUPA medical cover, use of pool car

This exciting role will take ownership of the production process, driving efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. You will be a proactive leader who thrives on building high-performing, multi-skilled teams and implementing streamlined systems.

Production Manager key responsibilities

• Lean Implementation: Apply simple Lean principles to streamline production processes, reduce inventory costs, and eliminate waste
• Continuous Improvement: Identify operational areas for improvement, develop practical solutions, and closely monitor the effectiveness of changes
• Team Leadership: Manage, train, and coach Production Cell Leads and their teams, fostering a positive, multi-skilled, and efficient workforce
• Performance Monitoring: Track and report on key production metrics to ensure all output, quality, and dispatch targets are consistently met
• Health & Safety: Maintain exceptionally high safety standards, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements and correct PPE usage
• Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Build strong relationships with other departments to optimize production schedules, logistics, and resource allocation

The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a Production Manager or similar leadership role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

You will possess strong, practical knowledge being instrumental in making changes to ensure the company continues to grow via assessing the current work environment and putting forward solid solutions and implementing lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement strategies.
