About the Role

The British Academy, the UK's national body for the humanities and social sciences, is seeking two Public Affairs Officers to join its Media and Public Affairs team in London. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the Academy's influence with parliamentarians, government, and key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver influencing activities to build the Academy's profile and increase awareness of the value of Social Sciences, Humanities and the Arts (SHAPE)
  • Monitor external developments, horizon-scan and pursue opportunities for proactive engagement with stakeholders
  • Develop and deliver public affairs strategies that engage parliamentarians and key stakeholders
  • Produce high-quality communications materials and events showcasing the Academy's evidence base and policy insights
  • Build and strengthen stakeholder relationships across the Academy and with external stakeholders

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as a public affairs professional with UK political knowledge including Devolved Nations and local/regional structures
  • Understanding of tactics used to influence Parliament and Government
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, parliamentarians, and their staff
  • Strong organisational skills to manage a varied workload
  • Editorial and political judgement to produce high-quality outputs
