Senior Estimator – Construction / Refurbishment / Fit Out

Location: Kent
Salary: £55,000 to £70,000 benefits
Employment Type: Permanent, full time

A well established construction contractor in Kent is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join its growing pre construction team. The business delivers a varied portfolio of refurbishment, heritage, commercial fit out and design & build projects, typically ranging from £250k to £20m, and is looking for a confident estimator who can lead tenders and support continued growth.

About the Role

The Senior Estimator will manage the full estimating process from initial enquiry through to tender submission. Working closely with pre construction, commercial and project delivery teams, you will prepare accurate cost plans, BOQs, take offs and tender documentation, ensuring all pricing reflects buildability, programme, risk and client requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  •  Leading tenders across refurbishment, heritage, commercial and D&B projects
  • Producing detailed cost plans, take offs and competitive tender submissions
  • Managing supply chain engagement and obtaining accurate subcontractor quotations
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications and employer’s requirements
  • Supporting bid strategy and contributing to client presentations when required
  • Providing clear cost advice to senior management
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors

About You

We’re looking for a Senior Estimator with a proven background in main contracting, ideally across refurbishment, heritage or fast paced commercial environments. You’ll be confident managing tenders independently, commercially aware, and able to produce accurate, deliverable cost plans.

You will bring:

  • Significant estimating experience within a main contractor
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing and buildability
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and technical documentation
  • Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with clients and consultants
  • A proactive, organised approach and the ability to work to deadlines

What’s on Offer

This is an opportunity to join a respected contractor with a strong pipeline of work, a collaborative pre construction culture, and the chance to influence tender strategy across a diverse project portfolio.
