It is an exciting time in Thanet's regeneration journey, with projects funded through central Government to support economic growth and the regeneration of our district. The council is looking for someone to be part of the team helping drive these projects forward.

We're looking for a skilled and proactive Senior Project Manager with experience of delivering capital schemes, to support our regeneration plans for Thanet. The role will focus on supporting the construction of a number of key projects in Thanet and helping define their long-term sustainability.

The team requires further project management resource in delivering the administration and coordination of these capital schemes, ensuring that all council processes and procedures are adhered to. The post holder will join a small regeneration team with a breadth of responsibilities across the programme and for individual projects – we're looking for someone with considerable hands-on experience.

Tasks Will Include

  • Commissioning and managing construction teams, working within standard contracts and the council's project management framework, including regular operational meetings and performance management of contractors.
  • Identifying key stakeholders and interested parties to carry out consultation and negotiation, including with developers to secure regeneration benefits for the District.
  • Developing project initiation documents and project delivery plans, and other project reports, ensuring appropriate stakeholder engagement. Facilitating funding applications and supporting private and grant-funded regeneration schemes within Thanet.

Essential Requirements

  • Significant experience of successfully managing complex high-value projects within specific time, cost and quality requirements.
  • Proven track record of developing regeneration schemes and projects from inception to completion, with a creative and problem-solving approach.
  • Sound knowledge of the local government context, including its legislative and regulatory environment, and Local Authority policies, procedures and processes including finance, legal and procurement.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, with a high degree of tact and diplomacy for a politically sensitive environment.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience developing business cases.
  • Experience monitoring and being accountable for budgets, programmes and projects.
