Sustainability Technologist

Working in the Technical team, you will provide specialist expertise, coordination, and support within the business’s Technical function, with a strong focus on Sustainability and Innovation. The role is responsible for assessing and reducing the environmental impact of the business and its supply chain, while supporting the development and implementation of strategies and action plans for resource efficiency and regulatory compliance. Additionally, the role will drive the investigation, evaluation, and delivery of innovative solutions, particularly those that advance sustainability objectives.

This is an office-based role, 40 hours, Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm.

Due to the rural location, you need access to your own vehicle.

Key responsibilities of Technologist include:

• Support the ongoing delivery and development of our sustainability strategy to meet current and future requirements.
• Coordinate the internal sustainability programme, action plans, meetings and stakeholder reporting.
• Support environmental activities across the site, including LEAF standards, grower engagement, data collection, reporting and liaison with local organisations.
• Monitor and maintain the environmental risk assessment process across the supply chain.
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and stay up to date with UK, EU and international regulations.
• Research and recommend innovative technologies and initiatives to enhance sustainability across the business and supply chain.

Key Skills & Knowledge required:

• Strong understanding of environmental regulations and standards.
• Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., Manufacture 2030, CDP, Wrap) is advantageous.
• An advanced proficiency with MS Office products, particularly Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical, investigative approach.
• Methodical, organised and able to deliver results to agreed timescales.
