Why give away free advertising?

The JobsBoard is a UK job website that helps many recruitment agencies and companies by advertising their job vacancies.

In addition, we support not-for-profit organisations, including local authorities, by offering free advertising for their vacancies.

Why would The JobsBoard want to give away free advertising?

There are many benefits of doing this:

  • Supports organisations with restricted resources
  • Altruistic desire to help others
  • Provides association with respected organisations
  • Gives these organisations access to a broader group of applicants, enabling them to recruit the best person for the job.

Resources. Local authorities are under budget pressure and are looking for ways to control their costs, including recruitment costs. But they still need to attract the best person for the job.

UK local authorities are governed by the principle of appointing on merit and must justify any recruitment costs. As they work on behalf of residents and spend their council tax payments, they need to do this carefully.

I want to help. This can be difficult to articulate, but I really do want to help both sides of the recruitment process – employer and job seeker. If I can bring them together, that is beneficial to everyone.

Association. The JobsBoard is great, but it is relatively small in the job board world. Being associated with larger and highly respected organisations helps improve the authority of what I am doing, and the trust people have in it.

Access to more candidates. Many candidates would not necessarily look for a new job on a local authority website. They would tend to search broadly for job vacancies in their skillset. (Finding the job vacancy page on some local authority websites can be quite hard. So, this doesn’t help.)

The JobsBoard promotes all job opportunities under searchable criteria such as skillset, location, salary, etc. This means that local authority job vacancies are shown to a much wider audience. Also, our Job Alert facility allows job seekers to find out about new opportunities as soon as they are published.

The Jobs features are range of Canterbury City Council Jobs, Thanet Council Jobs and Kent County Council Jobs.

If you are involved in recruitment for a local authority or a not-for-profit organisation, I would like to discuss how The JobsBoard can support you.
